Aerial silks (also known as aerial contortion, aerial ribbons, aerial tissues, fabric, ribbon, or tissu, depending on personal preference) is a type of performance in which one or more artists perform aerial acrobatics while hanging from a fabric.
Silks allow the aerialist to train various techniques including climbing, wrapping, inverting, locks and drops. The result of this training is increased strength and flexibility and the ability to be creative while having fun!
An aerial silks class consists of a proper cardiovascular warm-up and flexibility training and is followed by guided technique instruction. Class concludes with a brief warm down. Tricks, poses and sequences taught are tailored to the strength and capability of individual students. Class size is limited to 8 people. A reservation must be made to attend.
No experience is necessary, Your first lesson will have you learning to climb up into the hoop, building on your upper body strength, your core strength and from there you will progress to spins and tricks and combinations.
The aerial hoop (also known as the lyra, aerial ring or cerceau) is a circular steel apparatus rigged from the ceiling, giving you the opportunity to execute dynamic tricks, spins and swings! The hoop provides the perfect frame for an endless variety of balances, transitions and routines.
Aerial Hoop classes are great for building strength, stamina and increasing flexibility. A full class will give your whole body a good workout but when it comes to your core muscles and your upper body strength – aerial hoops are amazing.
